Tennessee Health Management, Inc. to Acquire West Tennessee Transitional CarePARSONS and JACKSON — West Tennessee Healthcare and Tennessee Health Management, Inc. (THM) announced recently that the two parties have entered exclusive negotiations leading to THM's acquisition of West Tennessee Transitional Care. The announcement follows weeks of discussions to determine the best solution for continuing needed services at West Tennessee Transitional Care. THM, which operates more than 30 skilled nursing facilities across Tennessee, offered the right mix of resources to provide care today, and looks to build a new replacement facility in the area in the coming years. "Bringing West Tennessee Transitional Care into the THM family of companies fits our mission perfectly and we look forward to continuing this facility's tradition of providing outstanding care," said Gail Crawford, director of operations for THM. "We have spent many months working with West Tennessee Healthcare to ensure a smooth transition for the patients and their families, as well as employees." Next steps in the acquisition process include approval from the West Tennessee Healthcare Board of Trustees, as well as the Board of Directors that governs THM's parent company. A closing date is expected to follow soon thereafter. At that time, THM will assume all operations at West Tennessee Transitional Care and will lease the current building until a new facility is approved through Tennessee's Certificate of Need process and built at a new location. "We knew several years ago that we would need to make changes at West Tennessee Transitional Care because of the major expansion of our campus that featured a new patient care tower, the A Tower," explained Paula Jernigan, administrator of West Tennessee Transitional Care. "But we also knew that the community needed these services. After our administration and Board explored several options, we determined that transferring the service to THM, a reputable, high-quality provider of similar services, would best meet these needs and provide the community with continued access."
